Make Better Stock Trades

Patterns, patterns, patterns. In the age of data and indicators, computers are now making trades and creating self-fulfilling trends. I looked all over the Internet in search of a site that offered a Stock Screener or Indicator that would do what I was looking for, and I couldn't find it so I built it! This site isn't just for you! I'm "eating my own dog food" and using the information to make my own financial decisions. There's no reason why you can't benefit as well. In fact, the more people who use this information to make decisions, the better the decisions will be. It's a win-win senario, and I love to win!

Buy/Sell vs Price/Date

I never understood how someone could give a recommendation without a time frame. Even the stock experts on TV wouldn't give me a price the stock should hit, before reversing direction. Stock Analysts give an expected price based on fundamentals, but they fail to tell us when they expect the stock to hit their price. If you tell me a stock is a "BUY", then tell me what you expect the "SELL" price to be, AND how many days you think it will take to get there. I have designed my indicators just like that.

I'm busy. I don't want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out a good trade. I should be able to spend less than 20 minutes a day, making good trade decisions and maximizing profits. If I can do it, you can too!

Trading Styles

When I look at stock trades, I see 5 different major trading styles:

  • Day Trader
    • The Day Trader will buy a stock and sell it in the same day. They use the same basic indicators as the Swing Trader, to make trade decisions on a shorter time scale. The problem I have with day trading, is that it's too quick and too much work. You could set up a computer to auto-trade, but what's the fun in that?
  • Short Swing
    • I love the Short Swings. I want to maximize my profits, and the Short Swings allow me to do that. I want to monitor my stocks on a daily basis, but spend a minimum amount of time making decisions. I call this a 20 day indicator, but I expect to hit my target price within 3 days.
  • Medium Swing
    • If you don't want to watch your stocks daily (Fear of Loss), but you want better profit potential than waiting almost a year, a Medium Swing might be your cup of tea. There's a 50 day simple moving average that everyone is looking at, which becomes a self-fullfiling prophecy for a price correction. I set out to create an indicator, to determine the best time to jump in and out before a reversal.
  • Long Swing
    • A Long Swing is mostly a "Fundamental" strategy. You want to pick a stock that looks good on paper. These are the stocks that are recommended on TV, but they don't give you a price or sale date expectation. These are the stocks that Analysts want you to buy or sell, and they give you a price, but not a sale date expectation. If you want to hold a stock for 200 days and pay very little attention, then this is the strategy for you.
  • Investor (HODL - Hold On for Dear Life)
    • This is the typical 401K strategy. You have no idea what you're doing, and a representative spends an hour a year trying to educate about how to manage your 401k, so you pick some funds and ignore it. You might re-balance as you get older to reduce risk, but overall you're just holding on, hoping that the market keeps going up. Then when there's a major correction, you feel like crap about your retirement for a few years until you're back at the same amount you were a few years earlier! That's not progress! Personally, I have changed my 401k strategy to a Long Swing and have benefited tremendously. I base my participation on the DOW. If the trend is flat or positive, I'm in. If the trend turns negative, I transfer all of my funds into savings. Why lose any money on a lower risk option?

The Indicators that go along with the Trading Styles above, are:

  • 20 Day (Short Swing)
  • 50 Day (Medium Swing)
  • 200 Day (Long Swing)

There are two other Indicators that I want to work on, after these are dialed in:

  • Range Indicator
    • This Indicator will take a look at stocks that are trending within range lines.
  • Volatility Indicator
    • This will be a higher risk/higher profit trade strategy for those who don't mind large price swings.

Our Purpose

The goal of the site is to make recommendations as simple as possible, yet be powerful enough for advanced traders that they can benefit as well.
